WCSO Annual Youth Advancement Scholarship

Every year the sheriff's office offers a one-time $500.00 scholarship to support one lucky Weld County youth to pursue their higher education!

The scholarship applications are distributed to Weld County District high schools, it is posted online, and on our social media platforms. Sheriff Reams will review the applications and pick the winner. The following are the requirements to apply for the scholarship:

• High school graduation senior or current college/university student
• A citizen of Weld County
• Accepted at an accredited university or college

The competitive selection process is based on GPA, the student's need, and their community involvement. The winning student will be notified on April 28, 2025, and scheduled for a day and time when they can come pick up their certificate and take a photo with the sheriff. 

For 2025, all applicants must also submit a 500-word essay on the following question: “What do you see as the future for law enforcement in our nation?”

All candidates must also submit a completed scholarship application by April 11, 2025, and address it to:
